Résumé: The purpose of this study is to underline the importance of translation quality assessment and enhance the quality of the algerian Al Khabar newspaper translations.This study is three fold: the first being an overview of the concept of translation quality assessment and the different approaches that exist within this field.The second is a study of the most important characteristics of journalistic translation with particular emphasis on journalistic writing features.the third and last is an in-depth analysis of the translations of Al Khabar according to certain pre-defined criteria.The methodology used was that of reiss's(2000) text typology.The study reached certain conclusion, the most important of which is that translation quality assessement can definitely be objective contrary to many scholar's belief,and that all translations should be subject to assessment prior to rheir delivery.
