Résumé: In Computer Graphics, existing ocean waves models still su .er from lack of realism and/ or complexityof use essentiallydue to empirical de .nition of parameters bythe user. In this paper, we propose an easyto use spectral ocean waves model whose parameters are obtained automaticallyfrom real world information. These parameters can be computed in two di .erent ways. The .rst one makes use of measured oceanographic data and the second one is image based. Both are veryfast and simple to use. Byusing real world information, we can achieve more realistic results than previous models. Ocean waves animation is veryeasyto perform with our spectral model. In addition, this model is procedural and allows a continuous representation of ocean surface awayfrom shore with anysize and anylevel of detail, while requiring verylow memorystorage.
