Fluoroindate glasses based on the InF3-BaF2-YF3 system

ملخص: Glass formation was investigated in the InF3-BaF2-SrF2-YF3 quaternary system. Limits of glass-forming areas are given in pseudo-ternary systems with different ratios of SrF2 and BaF2. The mean sample thickness is 2-3 mm. Main physical properties, including characteristic temperatures, density and infrared transmission, have been measured and compared with those of standard fluoride classes. Evidence for phase separation was observed. This led to the discovery of yttrium-rich fluoride glasses, close to the YF3-BaF2 binary association. Glass formation in the InF3-PbF2-YF3 ternary system is also reported. Potential interest of these glasses for practical applications is discussed.
