ملخص: This paper describes the methodology adopted to deal with the reactive power dispatch and voltage control problem in the Western Algerian system. A hybrid approach, combining heuristic and numerical techniques, has chosen in view of its successful application to the Spanish transmission network. Details are provided on how for implementations have been modified to cope with the critical situations frequently found in the Algerian case. Finally, field results corresponding to the worst case reported up to date are analyzed to show the validity of the proposed procedure.
